The Benefits of Hot Tubs

What’s better than a long Soak in a nice bath……?

Your very own hot tub

Hot tubs stress less

Today’s fast paced modern environment can cause a lot of stress…trust me I know!

As a working mum of two rocket fuelled children, I would often find myself stressed, fraught and practically tearing my hair out at the thought of yet another day in the rat race!

A few months ago this all changed….

I decided to take the leap and buy a new hot tub, and now instead of living in a perpetual motion, I actually take the time I need for myself to be a better mum and all round person.

hot tub benefits

Having a hot tub has so many benefits it would read like War and Peace (i.e very very long)

However I will list the ones that I personally have found most beneficial:

Stress relief, warm soothing water coupled with powerful hydrotherapy jets…OMG!

Peace, as soon as the children’s heads hit the pillow, my bum hits the spa seat and I am immersed up to the neck in pure luxury. Bliss.

My children are now not only the most popular children in school, they have hours of entertainment and my little girl who was afraid of water is confidently diving under for toys!!

Better sleep, we all sleep better after a spell in the hot tub, it really makes a big difference

Weight loss, this is an amazing benefit of using your hot tub, Spazazz is a great product to add to your spa or bath and as you tend to lose about a gram of body fat when you enter the spa, it never hinders…

Social we invite friends over to go in the tub; we find that our parties are always a huge success!

My aches and pains from carrying the children around for years have melted away; I use the hot tub every day and emerge feeling relaxed and more flexible

There will always be testing times when you are a working parent, I can’t promise every day will be a breeze, even with your hot tub…. But using a hot tub will certainly help, as the old saying goes you don’t have to be rich! But crying in the comfort of a Mercedes beats crying on a bike!

Benefits of Spazazz Escape Range

Benefits of Spazazz Therapy

There are many benefits to owning a hot tub, but have you ever thought about enhancing that hot soak into an aromatherapy experience? We have looked at the Spazazz Escape range to help you choose the best fragrance for your tub. Relax your state of mind with our naturally colourful and fragrant aromatherapy crystals. Captivate your senses and discover a whole new level to your hot tub or bath experience by escaping into paradise with this enlivening blend of moisturizing botanicals and minerals. Our Spazazz ranges have some of the most fragrant aromas to choose from.

Invigorate: Grapefruit Orange

Grapefruit Oil is a wonderfully energizing oil that isn’t too strong or overpowering. Using it in the mornings or at times of the day when you may need a bit of a boost. Grapefruit Oil is also great to use with other energizing oils like rosemary because it lightens up and sweetens the blend.

With its versatility, affordability and wonderfully uplifting aroma, Orange Oil is one of the most popular of essential oils within aromatherapy. The aroma of Orange Oil is cheerful and helps to improve the aroma of a stale-smelling or smoky room.

Enlighten: Green Tea & Peony

Green tea essential oil has many useful properties that make it beneficial. It is an astringent; this means it has the property to constrict and shrink body tissue. It is an antioxidant; this means it neutralizes free radicals in the body. Free radicals occur naturally in the body, but are also produced by exposure to ultraviolet rays, radiation, cigarette smoke and air pollution. They are responsible for cell and DNA damage. Tea seed oil has anti-inflammatory properties. It also has anti-aging properties as it inhibits the breakdown of collagen that is responsible for keeping the skin firm and elastic.

Peony extract is valued for the Paeoniflorin active, which has an anti-oxidant effect similar to Vitamin E. The botanical prevents lipid peroxidation in the epidermal cells for healthy skin. Its extract has been used medicinally for centuries to boost microcirculation, treat inflammation and relieve pain.

Exhilarate: Kiwi Pear

The benefits of the kiwi are endless but the oils effect on your skin is magical. Kiwifruit helps to maintain healthy and smooth skin attributing to its significant contribution in the process of collagen synthesis. It contains generous amount of vitamin C, may be more than oranges which helps to keep the skin firm and expedite healing of cuts and abrasions. Vitamin E present in kiwi assists in reducing the fine lines and appearance of wrinkles. Vitamin E also helps in reducing the harmful effects of ultra-violet radiation on the skin. Antioxidants present in the fruit work as a perfect anti-aging agent, prevent the skin from early degeneration and keep it rejuvenated.

Relax: Lavender

The popular lavender plant has a beautiful, versatile aroma. Benefiting from anti-bacterial it is a must-have for your first-aid kit. Its calming and sedative properties make Lavender Essential Oil a wonderful oil to help relax, fight stress and to promote sleep. And when properly diluted, it’s amongst the safest of essential oils.Spazazz Lavender

Lavender Oil is a floral, but I’ve spoken with men that love the aroma, especially when combined with other oils. Lavender Essential Oil is well known for its sedative properties and for its ability to help calm stress and anxiety and to help promote sleep. If used in excess, however, Lavender Oil can actually act as a stimulant.

Energise: Pomegranate

A powerful oil that you don’t need alot of to get benefits. It fights against free radicals: Pomegranate seed oil contains a unique polyunsaturated oil called “punicic acid”, an omega 5 fatty acid, which has strong anti-inflammatory properties. The oil fends off free radicals to keep skin ageing at bay. It also provides protection against sun damage.

Awaken: Verbena Lime and Coconut

Lemon or lemon-scented verbena – not to be confused with its relative, vervein, Verbena officinialis – is a native of South America (Chile and Peru). It is known for its strong antiseptic qualities.

Routinely used for its energizing, fresh and cheerful aroma. It is well known in folklore for its ability to cleanse, purify and renew the spirit and the mind. It is also said to be effective in cleansing the aura.

Soothe: White Musk, Vanilla and Jasmine

White musk also referred to as the Arabian musk oil includes fragrance of various plants and herbs.

It has been used alongside meditation, which helps bring mental clarity and allows an individual to concentrate on ones self.

Escape 20oz Crystals - White Musk Vanilla Jasmine (700x700B)This property of vanilla essential oil alone can take care of most of your problems. You may not be aware of this important fact, but oxidation is one of the biggest causes behind most of our health troubles and diseases. It is directly and indirectly responsible for a number of diseases caused by organic malfunctions and infections. Oxidizers, also called free radicals, cause oxidation of living cells and tissues and burn them to death, or change their DNA structure to that of cancerous cells. Gradually, this result in a weakening of the body’s immune system, loss of memory, organic and nervous malfunctioning, gradual loss of vision & hearing, mental instability, macular degeneration, and the body becomes prone to diseases. This oil has a relaxing and calming effect on the brain and the nerves that provides relief from anxiety, anger, and restlessness.

Jasmine oil, a type of essential oil derived from the jasmine flower, is a popular natural remedy for improving mood, overcoming stress and balancing hormones. Jasmine oil has been used for hundreds of years in parts of Asia as a natural remedy benefiting those who wish to eliviate depression, anxiety, emotional stress, low libido and insomnia.

Filter cleaning spray

How To Clean Your Hot Tub Filters – Video

By | Chemicals & Testing, Hot Tubs, Latest News | No Comments

Cleaning your Hot Tub filters is an essential part of your regular Hot Tub maintenance routine. Your filters play an important role in keeping your water clean and free of body oils and particles that may come off the body when bathing. It is advised that you clean your filters once a week letting them soak in a filter cleaning solution of your choice. It is recommended that you change your filters every 12 months, however  your filters can last between 18 months and two years if looked after properly. We personally recommend having your filters on a rotational system whereby whilst cleaning your filters you have a spare set to put into your tub so the others may dry completely before the next are ready to be cleaned.

To help you with the process involved with cleaning your filters we have made this quick demonstration video of how you should be cleaning your filters.

Castle Hot Tubs sell many, many different kinds of hot tub filters to find yours, please view our shop. If you are ever unsure of your filter type or size please call our knowledgeable  team and we will happily assist you – 01348 840509.

Hot Tubs Wales

We have combined our office knowledge and come up with these ideas on how to throw a great hot tub party.

As the nights draw in and the air turns fresh and crisp, we tend to retreat into our homes draw the blinds and snuggle on the couch. We believe this will do us good and in some ways we are right! Sometimes being snuggled indoors is the best.
DO NOT neglect your hot tub!

Getting outside and into your spa will invigorate lacklustre spirits and warm those freezing toes through.

First of all, with the festive season fast approaching and people forever looking for ways to entertain friends and family at home why not try a HOT TUB PARTY

Here is our top 10 essentials list from floating idea to full blown party mode.
Enjoy yourself!

Theming is everything! It can make or break your party.

We racked our brains in the office and come up with a few ideas….beach party; pamper night, cinema movie night, Hawaiian night or even hen/stag doo. The list is endless.

But the basics are simple Take a look at what we came up with:

Give your guests a welcome gift as they arrive, the adult version of a party bag!

Our one contains:
Towel to take home
AquaFinesse After Spa lotion
SlippersRubber Duck (to take home)
These thoughtful  items will add a touch of luxury and help your party flow easier, they also make your guests feel special and appreciated.

Party food on sticks finger food is the go to party food, however with guests jumping in and out of the spa eating in between it could be wise to provide sticks for them to hold with small bite sized nibbles on the end save finger grease

Fairy lights help to lights set the party mood scene and look stunning when it gets dark! If you are worried about the weather or if it is an out of season party pop up a gazebo around your hot tub to put your lights in.

Hot Tub 15
Waterproof playing cards are the perfect conversation lapse filler because a fun filled hot tub game will keep the adults entertained!
Another fun tip is to use Spazzazz, lots of people jumping in and out? Why not fragrance your spa? This stuff makes the spa smell absolutely amazing and can help stretch the water quality.

Plastic glasses these are hot tub party lifesavers

Chess set/spa tray another lull in the conversation? This little beaut will keep everyone happy

Maybe a few mini bins scattered around the tub because they will help people to clean up for you and make it easier to chuck those sticks away!

Foot bath, adding a foot bath by the spa will help to keep grass and dust and debris out of your water

How to use a Submersible Pump

How to empty your Hot Tub?

Why not take the hassle out of emptying your spa with this amazing little submersible pump?

We regularly get asked the most efficient way to empty a hot tub or swim spa. There are two solutions, first of all you could use the drainage that is already installed in your spa. The timing of this can vary depending on the size of the plug hole and spa taking between 1 and 2 hours. The second option is to use a submersible pump which will empty your spa in a much faster, efficient  time and labour intensive way, bonus!

We have put together this How to video for every hot tub and swim spa owner out there full of plenty of tips let our engineer Sam take it away…

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR HOT TBUB PUMP

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR HOT TUB PUMP… EXPLAINED

By | FAQ, Hot Tubs | No Comments

IDENTIFY YOUR HOT TUB PUMP…

When examining your pump you will notice it consist of two main components the wet end, and the dry end. The wet end contains an impeller which moves the water and the dry end has a motor which turns the impeller.

screenshot.1
To identify which replacement pump you will need is simple. If you can provide us with the following information we can help tp process your order quickly and efficiently.

Frame size:  When looking at replacing your pump if you have space in your hot tub for a 56 frame it is recommended that you choose this option. This is because it is more reliable in the long term, and will offer better durability as they are kept slightly cooler when running.
screenshot.2

Measure the wet end as shown to establish what size frame you are currently using in your hot tub.

You can find the existing frame size on the label attached to your motor.

screenshot.3

Does your Hot Tub have a One or Two Speed Motor? If your motor has one RPM number then it will be one speed. If it has two RPM numbers then it will be a two speed motor. It is advisable to make a note of these numbers they will be separated by a / for two speed motors and are sometimes referred to as GIRI numbers.

Horsepower. If shown, the Horsepower commonly referred to as HP, can be useful. We cross check this information with the motor companies by looking at the amp range. This will give our team a good idea of a motors horsepower range as some companies inflate the horsepower.

7-8 amps = 1.5 HP

9-10 amps = 2.0 HP

10-11 amps = 2.5 HP

11-12 amps = 3.0 HP

14-15 amps = 4.0 HP

Wet End Information. Does your pump have a side discharge or centre discharge?  (90% of UK pumps have a centre discharge)

Once you have collected all of these details you should be able to locate your new wet end. If you still do not feel confident finding your new part please feel free to contact the Castle Hot Tubs Team by either phone or email.
